About The Provincial Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Edinburgh

An initial steering Committee, chaired by M.E.Comp. Alexander Leitch Edmond, was established in January 2001 and met regularly at the Masonic Club, Shrub Lane, Edinburgh to develop a suitable environment for the establishment of the Provincial Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Edinburgh.

Over the following 12 Months the committee agenda of work included the following topics: The eligibility, finance, name, regalia, time scale, logo and the bye-laws of P.G.R.A.C. of Edinburgh.

On 28th February 2001, the name of Provincial Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Edinburgh was confirmed. In the same meeting the logo of P.G.R.A.C. Edinburgh was adopted, the founding date of the province was agreed and fund raising activities were discussed.

On 28th March 2001 a draft copy of the Bye-Laws were discussed, approved and passed to the Supreme Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Scotland for their approval.

On 24th April 2001 the Mark token and ties for P.G.R.A.C. of Edinburgh were approved and the installation and founding meeting date was confirmed to be 23rd February 2002.

In December 2001 The Bye-Laws of P.G.R.A.C. Edinburgh were passed by the Supreme Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Scotland.

On the 23rd of February 2002, The Right Honourable Earl of Elgin and Kincardine Kt, CD, LL.D. Most Excellent First Grand Principal of the Supreme Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Scotland, opened a meeting of the Supreme Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Scotland for the purpose of Erecting, Consecrating and Dedicating the Provincial Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Edinburgh. The meeting took place in the Freemason's Hall at 96 George Street, Edinburgh.

The First Grand Superintendent of the Province of Edinburgh, M.E.Comp. Alexander Leitch Edmond, was obligated and installed in his office with due ceremony, thereafter the Commissioned office bearers were obligated and installed into their respective offices.
